Four Score Years and Ten

Four Score Years and Ten was commissioned by Winchester City Council to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. Working with local Winchester charities AgeUK Winchester, Winchester Live at Home Scheme and St John’s Winchester Almshouses, Zipcopi’s Anna Glynn hosted three sessions of conversations involving forty people about their experience of living as a person in their nineties in contemporary Britain.

Six people were subsequently invited to 1-1 interviews which were transcribed. Theatremakers used interviewees’ words verbatim to create an original piece of theatre exploring the lived experience of older people. The piece was performed in community settings over tea and coffee with contributing participants as guests of honour. Each evening, a conversation and Q&As between the audience and performers would follow.
